Pet Insurance
Important care and peace of mind
Bringing home a new puppy is a joyous occasion, filled with excitement and the promise of many cherished memories. However, it also comes with its share of responsibilities, one of which is ensuring your furry friend’s health and well-being.
Pet insurance for your new puppy can provide peace of mind, offering financial protection against unexpected and rising veterinary costs. From routine check-ups to emergency medical care, pet insurance helps ensure that your puppy receives the best possible treatment without placing a strain on your finances. Investing in pet insurance early can contribute significantly to your puppy’s long, happy, and healthy life.
All of our puppies come with a 2-year health guarantee against congenital/genetic issues when the owner fulfills the following requirements:
- Must purchase at least 6 months of Pet Insurance from a major licensed insurance company that provides first-day coverage for the first 6 months they own the puppy and provide proof of that insurance when submitting a claim to Puppy Porch within 30 days of diagnoses of a qualifying genetic issue
- Must provide proof of a well-check for their puppy with a licensed veterinarian within 7 days of adoption
- Must submit proof that their puppy was spayed/neutered by the puppy’s 1st birthday (for claims submitted after the puppy is 12 months old)
Why Pet Insurance is Important for Your New Puppy
Puppies are curious creatures with endless energy and a knack for getting into trouble. Despite our best efforts, accidents can happen, and puppies also can develop unexpected health conditions. In these situations, pet insurance can provide much-needed financial support to help cover the costs of treatment.

What is pet insurance?
Pet insurance helps you pay for vet bills if your pet gets sick or hurt.
We’re the most comprehensive pet insurance there is. That means we cover things like hereditary conditions linked to breed, injury and disease in every adult tooth, and exam fees.
- Use any veterinarian in the U.S. or Canada
- Rated ‘Excellent’ on Trustpilot with a 4.5 out of 5-star rating.
- Covers up to 90% of unexpected vet bills
Fetch offers a fully customizable plan with annual limits of $2,500 – unlimited depending on the plan you choose. You are also able to choose to apply your deductible on an annual or per-condition basis and you can choose from 70%, 80%, or 90% reimbursement options that are based on the veterinarian’s actual bill.
How Fetch works:
Use any veterinarian in the U.S. or Canada
With Fetch, you have the flexibility to keep your current vet or use a new vet if you prefer. We even cover specialists and emergency clinics.
Submit a claim in minutes
Just take a picture of your vet documents, answer a few questions about your pet’s treatment and then we’ll handle it from there.
Get paid back fast
Once your claim is approved, you’ll be paid back up to 90% of your unexpected vet bill in as little as two days via direct deposit. Claims are typically processed within 15 days from when we receive all your documents. We’ll email you with updates, so keep an eye on your inbox. And if you set up direct deposit, you’ll be paid back 5-10 days faster than if you have a check mailed to you.
What’s covered?
Fetch covers new injuries and illnesses that occur after the waiting period ends: things like foreign object ingestion, broken teeth, ACL ruptures, kidney disease, and more. As long as it’s not a pre-existing condition, we’re here for just about anything that happens. We provide the most comprehensive coverage in the industry, and it’s all standard in your plan.
- Treatment for injuries: The cost of veterinary treatment when your pet gets hurt. Injuries can range from cuts and foreign object ingestion to broken bones and ACL ruptures.
- Treatment for illnesses: The cost of veterinary treatment when your pet gets sick. Illnesses can range from vomiting, diarrhea, and urinary tract infections to heart disease or cancer.
- Sick-visit exam fees: Every sick visit comes with an exam fee, which can be around $50 – $250. We cover those exam fees for you.
- Every tooth & gum: Injury and disease in every adult tooth, not just the four canine teeth. Plus, you get full coverage for periodontal disease (the most common disease in dogs and cats), oral tumors, trauma, and more.
- Breed-specific issues: Medical conditions linked to breed, like breathing problems in French bulldogs or kidney stones in Burmese.
- Alternative & holistic care: Treatments like acupuncture, aromatherapy, chiropractic, and homeopathic therapy administered by a vet to treat an injury or illness.
- Emergency vet visits: Treatment at licensed emergency veterinary clinics anywhere in Canada or the U.S.
- Specialists: Treatment by licensed veterinary specialists including, but not limited to, orthopedists, oncologists, orthodontists, and cardiologists.
What’s not covered?
Pet insurance covers future accidents and illnesses — the stuff you can’t see coming. Here’s everything you need to know about what we don’t cover.
- As a Puppy Porch client, your coverage begins the day you purchase your insurance. This means that your puppy is covered from the day you take ownership and there is no waiting period. This no-waiting period perk is unique to Puppy Porch clients, so be sure to mention this to the Fetch customer service representative you work with when you set up your policy. There is a 15-day waiting period for non-Puppy Porch families.
What kind of coverage should I get?
The type of coverage you get will depend on what your needs are. If you feel confident that you could cover any health-related costs for your pet, you may not need insurance at all. But for those who prefer to avoid unexpected pet-related expenses, it’s important to consider what kind of financial impact you’re willing and able to cover for your pet and insure them accordingly.
If you’re able to pay for an unexpected $1,000 vet visit, then you could keep your insurance minimal, perhaps only covering injuries and hereditary illnesses. But if you’re willing to pay a bit more every month to avoid a large bill from the vet, it may be better to select a low deductible or co-payment. Luckily, pet insurance is very customizable and can be adjusted for your needs.
