Our commitment to our puppies and to you.
Our Puppy Porch Health Guarantee
All of our puppies come with a 2-year health guarantee against congenital/genetic issues when the owner fulfills the following requirements:
- Must purchase at least 6 months of Pet Insurance from a major licensed insurance company that provides first-day coverage for the first 6 months they own the puppy and provide proof of that insurance when submitting a claim to Puppy Porch within 30 days of diagnoses of a qualifying genetic issue
- Must provide proof of a well-check for their puppy with a licensed veterinarian within 7 days of adoption
- Must submit proof that their puppy was spayed/neutered by the puppy’s 1st birthday (for claims submitted after the puppy is 12 months old)
Optional 1-Year Extension
At the time of purchase, Puppy Porch offers the option to purchase a Health Guarantee extension for $250 that will extend the terms of this 2-year guarantee to 3 years from the time you purchase your puppy from us.
If you decide to purchase this extension after Adoption Day, a higher rate will apply.
7-Day Guarantee
If your puppy is found to have a communicable/parasite issue at your first well-check within 7 days after you take puppy ownership, Puppy Porch will pay up to $85 towards the medication needed to treat the parasite issue. Vet invoices for the medication are required to claim this guarantee.
What is Covered by this Health Guarantee?
Life-threatening or life-ending non-breed specific congenital/genetic/hereditary defects confirmed and covered by insurance in the first 6 months of ownership, or beginning in month 7 of ownership through written diagnoses by 2 licensed veterinarians from different practices submitted to Puppy Porch within 30 days of diagnosis secondary to insurance if still carried on the puppy.
Reimbursement of actual accrued medical expenses (with proof of veterinarian invoices) up to the purchase price of the puppy OR a replacement puppy of equal value will be given if all qualifications of this Health Guarantee are met.
- During the first 6 months of puppy ownership, this Health Guarantee is secondary to the client’s required Pet Insurance. Copies of insurance Explanation of Benefits and receipt of insurance payments must be submitted to Puppy Porch to claim this Health Guarantee. Cash reimbursements OR a replacement puppy will not exceed the purchase price of the original puppy.
- After the first 6 months of puppy ownership, proof of insurance carried the first 6 months of the puppy’s life is still required even if that insurance is no longer carried on the puppy to claim this Health Guarantee.
- After the first 6 months of ownership, this Guarantee is secondary to Pet Insurance still carried on the dog, the diagnosis must be confirmed by 2 licensed veterinarians from different practices, and the client must notify Puppy Porch within 30 days of diagnosis.
What is NOT Covered by this Health Guarantee?
- Issues unrelated to congenital/genetic defects
- Re-administration of vaccinations already administered by the breeder
- Allergic reactions of the puppy to food, environmental allergens, toxins, vaccines, shampoos, medications, pesticides, etc.
- Medications/treatments/tests for common parasite infections beyond the first vet visit which must happen within 7 days of adoption
- Temperament (activity level, energy, personality, etc.), coat type or color, height, weight or hypo-allergenicity
- Accidental injury/death
- Health issues caused by over- or under-weight dogs
- Dental issues including tooth removal of deciduous or adult teeth
- Treatment, surgery, or medication related to Grade 1 or 2 luxating patellas
- Therapeutic options like massage, water therapy, etc.
- Any type of training
- Results of genetic testing
- All Cancers or Diabetes
- Treatment of Parvo after 7 days from Adoption (Puppy is up-to-date on all vaccinations prior to adoption and it is the owner’s responsibility to keep the puppy away from all locations where it could pick up this virus such as stores, parks, sidewalks, etc. until the puppy is fully vaccinated.)
- Cremation or necropsy
- Dog food/treats or prescription dog food/treats
- X-rays
- Common Breed-Specific Known Health Risks (e.g. Bulldogs prone to brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome and respiratory issues due to their short nose; Cocker Spaniels prone to ear infections due to floppy ears; Cavaliers prone to heart issues and cherry eye, Beagles prone to epilepsy, etc.)
This Health Guarantee
- Is null and void if the owner, owner’s family or owner’s friends engage in public libel, slander or defamation of any kind against Puppy Porch, its breeders or its affiliates.
- May only be claimed by the original owner of the puppy who purchased the puppy from Puppy Porch.
- Is not a replacement for Pet Insurance.
- Is limited to the purchase price of the puppy for cash reimbursements or a replacement puppy of equal value.
- Does not guarantee cash reimbursement for medical expenses outside the limits of this guarantee.
